The Shedding of a Girl

I was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents who emigrated from the island of Haiti. I believe that this cultural background allowed me to appreciate and embrace diverse cultures and want to learn more about them. As a result, when I was a kid, my goal was to speak as many languages as I could and travel to as many places in the world. How else would I get to know and communicate with the people I would encounter world-wide. Little by little, I am trying to attain that goal. It may take me my whole lifetime, but I am determined to do so.

I was also determined to capture every emotion, every detail of life that I experienced or experienced through others. This book is the result of all that I have “captured” over the past 30 years. I am looking forward to what the next 30 may bring. I am now living in Europe after being born and living in the U.S. all my life. I am closer to cultures beyond the traditional “West.” I am exhilarated by the thought of experiencing a new life, new cultures and capturing new emotions.
